Updates, News & Pix
We're back from Inspirational Country Awards Week!
We had a lovely time meeting so many new people, and rubbing shoulders with established Country and Christian Country Artists. The exhibition hall was stuffed to the gills with beautifully decorated booths, promoting everything from record labels and songwriters to recording artists. They also threw in a great photo shoot for new publicity shots (I'll post those when we get them back from Oklahoma), as well as continuous showcasing during the day. Then, each night, it was over to the Gibson Guitar Showcase Cafe in Opry Mills (where Opryland used to stand). A great evening of "two songs each" from a variety of bands and artists, followed by a "guitar pull" free-for-all back at the Hotel, starting at 11pm.
These first shots are from backstage, shot right after the winner had been announced:
Jim is getting a good look at the VOCAL GROUP OF THE YEAR AWARD, being given to "The Fox Brothers". Not only did they sing on the live GAC Awards telecast, but they were an all-time favorite Wednesday night at the Gibson Showcase. This band really has a great time, and it shows!
When you hear Christians talking about their own "Statler Brothers", you can be sure they are referring to the comedy and smooth harmony of The Fox Brothers. The song they performed on the Awards Show (their latest hit) was written by our very own Consultant, Robert Jason! He sure does get around...he even sang backup for several of the Awards acts, and played keyboards, too. RJ, you looked marvelous on camera...hope we don't lose you to your own performance career! www.RobertJasonMusic.com

Watch out for this foursome of Cowpokes! GunnPoint (Randy and Heidi Gunn, et al) is a great, country band...up for three awards this year. They held a Cowboy Church service, and sponsored the "Ride and Shoot" competion, both Pro and the Pro/Am, during ICMA week.
We all had our cowboy boots on, even when wearing evening gowns and tuxes!
We are interested in having Jim participate in the "Ride and Shoot" competitions, then perhaps sing a couple of new radio songs during Randy's Music Ministry, The Cowboy Church. Contact them at www.GunnPoint.us.

We really enjoyed meeting Del Way, who kicked off the Awards Telecast with a great Christian song. Please email or write to TBN, and see if we can't get Del's TV Show, BY THE WAY, broadcast more often. He is a past winner of MUSIC MINISTRY OF THE YEAR, and several other awards. www.DelWay.org
Plus...Del and Jim are working together to release a few tunes to the CCMA and Southern Gospel. Del is an award-winning songwriter, and we are honored to work with him...what great songs for J.T!

Jim is thanking his PAX Network interviewer for the chance to spread his latest song, "A Cowboy's Kind of Christmas", and also talk about the change of direction for his career.
Thanks, PAX!

J.T. and Kimberly Lee are schmoozing after she interviewed him for the GBN Network. They talked about his Welk days, and how the music he has been performing for 20 years now has it's own Association, plus this great Awards Show.
Thanks, GBN!

It is hard to explain how happy we were, when Jim had the opportunity to appear for the CMT Showcase Stage, at Opry Mills (standing on the same ground he used to work, when it was the theme park, Opryland!)
Thanks to President Gene Higgins (pix soon) and the quality staff at the CCMA, such as Darlene, Lynne Turner (no relation, but a qreat lady) and Kristi. They kept everything running on time for the entire week. Amber, you are awesome.
Robert Jason helped us choose the song Jim performed, and we decided on, "Why Me, Lord". That song is just the type of tune we are searching for, to add to our "debut" album of originals we are cutting this May, for cross-release in CCMA and Southern Gospel.
Thanks, Kris Kristofferson, for such amazing lyrics and a Country Christian Anthem after all these years...both Dinah and Mr. Welk asked Jim to sing this song on their respective shows. And, it works just as well today! We'll be putting it on the next album, so everyone can get reacquainted with it.
(Video of the performance will soon be available on the site).
