Recording Studio

In 1980, Jim Turner and Terri Lynn (seated at console above, 1981) started a new recording company named Earthtone Records. New artists were groomed and songwriters were offered co-writing if desired, then the artist was booked into the appropriate venue to make the demo, then the follow -up album for distribution and sales. In addition, we founded High Anchor Records to aid in the Music Ministry in 1996.

We hope to rebuild what the Nashville flood of 2010 wiped away. The beautiful new studio, and the entire first floor were flooded. In fact, we will be moving soon and hope to start over at a new location with donations and prayer. It seems appropriate to leave this information up at this time, as we wipe mold off of the piano, and try to rescue the master for the gospel album. However, the Lord is in charge, and we are here to follow his bidding. Please wish us well as we start anew.

Now, we own our own demo facilities, brand new in 2008. Available at reasonable rates, we offer 24 track ADAT systems, with Neumann microphones; and, of course, a really good deal on a lead singer, as well as background harmonies; plus lead guitar, acoustic classical guitar, rhythm guitar, bass guitar, and keyboards and keyboard effects (the versatile Jim Turner's one-man-band).

Still to come, our new pictures of the pro-recording studio facilities, with a complete equipment list. Don't forget the freebee of having an on-site voice coach (save $500/song), plus the ease of working with so many members of the band that you recognize so well (Jim Turner just spins around, and surprise! he still has a beard). We modeled our studios after seeing our friends, David & Linda, and the great job they did with their 24 track on-site, and we started our "wish" list.

Most of the vocal coaching students are making their albums with "their voice coach" on special package deals, and outside clients have been booking time with Jim, as he can perform the "one-man band" function for future stars on a limited budget. We also handle a great deal of artist overdubs to existing tracks, usually out of the 1500 or so songs already in the studio library. Clients are welcome to bring their own tracks, their own band, or have Jim do his "magic" live instrumentals to make fresh tracks. Of course, J.T. is always willing to sing "back-up" to fill out the session singers. We also bring in "live" musicians to overdub the session, so authentic dobro and mandolin, plus harmonica and fiddle, will not sound like keyboard effects.

As Terri Lynn spent 20 years in broadcasting at ABC-TV in Hollywood working in audio and production, we are hoping to get her healthy enough to start mixing, producing and marketing for the label once again...so that Jim can be freed up to perform more on the road. Your prayers are deeply appreciated, concerning her Pulmonary Fibrosis fight for breath.

Booking time is tough right now, as Jim performs in regional churches on the weekends, and tends to his vocal coaching two days a week. Look for High Anchor Record's latest project, 'The Wish', being "shopped" for a major label deal right now (we just finished cutting the demo for Barbara Steele, who brought us a poem that J.T. turned into a Contemporary Christian pop tune). It is really great to finally have our own pro-recording studio. Earthtone Records produced the California sound, and High Anchor Records is now producing the Christian Country Music sound, the Southern Gospel sound, the Contemporary Christian Music sound, plus Folk and Standards ... here in Nashville... just North of Music Row, in Hendersonville (off Johnny Cash Parkway at Indian Lake).
